1. Introduction

This program supports the EMS “PS2™ USB memory adaptor” (#0206) and “PS2™ memory adaptor” (#0107), which allow user to transfer files between PC and PS2™ memory card, and allow user to edit the PS2™ savers in PC. If the OutLook Express is set up correctly, user can also send the saver to their friends by email via this program.

 

2. How to set up your adaptor

I. Installation guide for PS2™ USB memory adaptor (#0206):

1. Turn on your PS2™ console, enter the browser screen.

2. Insert your PS2™ or PS1™ memory card to your adaptor, and then connect the adaptor to the PS2™ console. If the PS2™ console can recognize your adaptor, the LED will turn green

3. Connect the adaptor to PC via an USB cable. If your PC can recognize your adaptor, it would ask you for driver. Otherwise, it would recognize a new “unknown usb device”. If so, please try again with an usb hubs or use another usb port.

4. When the PC ask you for the driver, please direct it to the folder which is generated by de-compress the file “PS2™ Linker Advance v1.0.zip”.

5. If the above steps are all right, you can run the program PS2M.exe directly.

 

Note: for 2nd connection of the adaptor, you don't need to re-install the driver. As long as the adaptor is well connected, you can find the "EMS Inter-Link Cable" inside the "Hardware Profile" as the picture below :

          

 

II. Installation guide for PS2™ memory adaptor (#0107):

1. Turn on your PS2™ console, enter the browser screen.

2. Insert your PS2™ or PS1 memory card to your adaptor, and then connect the adaptor to the PS2™ console. If the PS2™ console can recognize your adaptor, the LED will turn green

3. Connect the adaptor to PC parallel port via the link cable. And then you can run the program PS2M.exe directly

 

3. Program interface and functions

If the connection is successful, you can run the program PS2M.exe. You should able to see “PS2 : PS2 memory card” at the top left corner., “PC” at the top right corner, and the free memory space between them. (as the “7123KB” shown in the Fig.1) At the left hand side, you can find the saver icons. Select one of them, you can see the name of that saver at the bottom. Double click it, a window will pop up which shows the 3D icon of that saver. (as shown in Fig.2). You can also see it’s name and size. At the right hand side, you can see the saver files inside your PC. We can call the 3D icon of the saver on right hand side, same as what we can do to the saver on the left hand side. At the lower part, there are many buttons, include : Renew, Upload, Download, Delete, Send Email, Format, Calculator, Editor and Exit. They are the main function of this program.

 

Main Functions

1.      Renew:

If the connection is successful, the program should be able to detect the adaptor. Then, you can click the Renew button and the program would refresh the content of the left hand side, so as to show the current savers in the memory card.

Note

1. If you are using the “PS2 memory card adaptor”(#0107), and if you insert a PS2 card and a Smedia to the adaptor at the same time, a window (as soon in Fig. 3) will pop up when you click the renew button, to let you select your card.

2. When you use the renew function, if the saver in the PS2 memory card doesn’t have a copy in /Saver folder in your PC, the program would pop up a tips to remind you to back up the saver to the computer.

 

2.      Upload Saver:

With this function, user can upload saver from PC to the memory card. To use this function, you just need to select a saver at the PC side, and then click the button “Upload Saver”. You can only transfer one saver in one time. After the transfer is complete, it would pop up a window to notice you.

 

Note: You can also use this function by dragging the saver icon from the right hand side to the left hand side. The program would pop up a window to notify you when the transfer is successful.

 

3.      Backup Saver:

With this function, user can back up the saver from the memory card to PC. To use this function, you just need to select a saver at the left side (memory card), and then click the button “Backup Saver”. You can also use this function by dragging the saver icon from the left hand side to the right hand side

 

For those saver in the memory card which have not been backed up to PC yet, it’s icon would be an interjection mark :

 

Note: For the savers of the same game, we recommend to keep only one copy in the /Savers folder in the PC. That is, when you back up a game saver to PC (/Savers), we recommend to overwrite the old saver of that game if that exist.

 

4.      Delete

This function allows user to delete the saver in the PS2 memory card. To use this function, you just need to select a saver at the left side (memory card), and then click the button “Delete”. The program would pop up a window to notify you when the delete process is complete.

 

5.      Edit Saver

This function allow user to edit the saver in the PS2 memory card. To use this function, you just need to select the saver at the left hand side, and click the button “Edit Saver”. The program would pop up a Hex editor (as shown in the Fig. 5). You can change the data directly with this editor and save the changes to the memory card or to PC.

                    

                     Note: We don’t recommend user to save the edited saver under /Savers in PC.

6.      Send Email:

This function allow user to send the saver to his friends by email. To use this function, you just need to select a saver at the left hand side, and chick the button “Send Email”. The program would call the Outlook Express window (as shown in the Fig. 6). The saver is already attached in the email, you just need to fill in your friend’s email address, and then you can send the email out.

                    

Note : To use this function, you have to make sure that the setting of Outlook Express is correct.

7.      Format

This function allows user to format the memory card, and thus delete all savers immediately. Sometimes we also need to format the card when there is illegal or corrupted data inside the memory card. To use this function, you just need to simply press the “Format” button. After that, you program would tell you to format the card once in the PS2™ console. You can go into the browser in the PS2™ console, and it would ask you to format the card.

                    

                     Note : This function is for PS2™ memory card only, not for PS1™ memory card.
